Festive Fall Porches

Festive Fall Porches

One of the things I love most about my farmhouse home is the large and inviting front porch. It’s a place for friends and neighbors to gather, has a beautiful view of the sunsets, and is the perfect place for decorating for the season!

No matter your front porch - whether it is a large wrap-around style or the door to your apartment- we hope to inspire you to decorate and celebrate the Autumn season!

I love supporting local farms. Every year, I buy all my pumpkins and mums from a local farmer in Garner, NC. You can also check out this site for information on pumpkin patches and farms near you. A few tips to get your started:I always buy my mum…

I love supporting local farms. Every year, I buy all my pumpkins and mums from a local farmer in Garner, NC. You can also check out this site for information on pumpkin patches and farms near you.

A few tips to get your started:

  1. I always buy my mums pre-bloom. This way, they last longer and you get to enjoy them as they open up and bloom. Remember mums need lots of water!

  2. Choose an odd number of pumpkins to group. In the picture above, you will notice I have 3 on one side and 5 on the other. Odd numbers in groups are more aesthetically-pleasing.

  3. Look around your garage and in your attic for things to use in your decor. I found an old galvanized watering pail, an old lantern and a rustic bucket to use on my porch this year, and they add so much to the overall decor.

  4. Layer your doormat to bring in extra color. You can also use the same rug year round and change up your doormat with the seasons.

  5. Rocking chairs or benches with pillows and blankets add to the cozy feel of Autumn! HartDesignCo has the perfect pillows for your porch (or your couch). You can find the Handpicked Pumpkins pillow here and all of our pillow covers here.
